It was a picture perfect day…and by that I mean a day perfect for pictures! Wedding pictures!! Saturday was the day for a greatly anticipated wedding. I met Holly, her Mom Nancy and her daughter Sydney a few months ago when they were looking for a wedding photographer. As she described her wedding day, I felt more and more excited to be a part of it. Her excitement was contagious. As she spoke of Bryce, her whole face lit up. This was a woman in love and her wedding day was going to be wonderful. We were so happy when she decided to make bdf a part of her big day!
You may recall their eSession images that Beaver posted earlier this month. Well the bdf crew returned to the scene in full force to photograph the bride and groom as each were getting ready. Beaver and Nancy were with Holly, and Jenn and I were with Bryce. As usual, we arrived early. (Grooms be warned!) We took the opportunity to scope out the area and find some great places to photograph the guys. There was no end to the potential! After we walked around the property we headed back in to see if the guys were ready. The first order of business was the re-creation of an image taken a few years earlier.

They all stand a little taller against those French doors now! It was from that moment on that I knew I was going to have a good time with these guys. They were not shy in front of the camera and they were always full of ideas.
We decided to head up the road to Bryce’s grandparents house. There was a small sign on the front of their home that said it was built in 1834. That home is 175 years old. It was so cool to be looking at a piece of history. The architectural detail of the header over the door, the colourful glass, the dormer on the second floor. How many stories could this house tell if those walls could talk? I just had to use the house as the backdrop to some of the family photos. But the quaint house was not the only interesting building on the property! They had a red barn too!

That is one of my favourite shots of the day. And I have to give a little shout out to my new best friend Quinn. He has to be the coolest 5 year old I know. He could strike a GQ pose like no one I’ve seen before. He is sweet, adorable and he was so good. Thanks Quinn for those Timbits! They really helped us get through the rest of our day!! And since Quinn was the ring bearer, I kind of broke tradition with my ring shots and did something a little different.
You have to agree, he is pretty cute! And since we were shooting our getting ready images at Bryce’s grandparent’s home, I was able to get this wonderful image of three generations of men!
Bryce and the boys wanted to go down the street to the covered bridge to shoot some images as well. Is it just me, or does the inside of the bridge match their ties perfectly?
There was time for one last detail shot before heading off to the church.
Now this is where I need to fess up. We (I) had some minor technical difficulties when I got to Bryce’s parent’s house. As we were scoping out the lay of the land and I was shooting some shots to check out the light, I thought a bug landed on my camera. No such luck. Somehow, something got INSIDE my camera. While I was pretty certain that the spot was not on anywhere that would show up on the pictures, I had to put my camera away. I wasn’t going to risk it. I shot all the above images with Jenn’s camera. Fortunately, when the bdf crew shows up on site, it is with 5 cameras, so losing the use of one is never an issue. We run all different lenses to get different types of shots. So, from the ceremony on, I shot with three or four different cameras! Whichever one was handy, I’d pick up. (It’s so much easier than switching lenses!) As a result, you will not only see my images in this post, but I will also have some images shot by Beaver (and maybe Jenn and Nancy too!) I promise to try to give credit where credit is due, but for the most part, I think we shoot fairly similarly so hopefully I can tell you who shot what!
This was our second time photographing inside the beautiful St. Paul’s United Church in Sussex. We were there this past April for Andrea and Troy’s wedding. Once again, it was Reverend Mills officiating. Here are a few images I captured during the ceremony
.

After the ceremony, we headed off to do some family portraits and some images with the whole bridal party. That all went quickly and smoothly so we had a lot of time with just Holly and Bryce. One of Holly’s requests was that we did some couple shots of them at a covered bridge. Is it just a coincidence that her flowers from Hampton Flower Shop match the colour of the vines?
And how about the details on her beautiful dress from Lockhart’s Weddings and Special Occasions?
….and I think this is one of Beaver’s.
…and another
And before we left the bridge we had to rock some shots of Bryce’s hot red truck.
I didn’t ask for smiles in this next one. I asked for fierce. I think she nailed it!
Beaver saw a great opportunity for me to get a shot I’ve been trying to get for some time now. You know that famous shot of the Beatles crossing the road from their Abbey Road album. Yeah, that one! Well, we had a cross walk and a bride and groom. Worked for me!
We absolutely LOVE shooting weddings in Sussex. There are just so many opportunities there. If you remember the wedding of Janet and Bruce you may recall the shot of the couple in the diner. I told Beaver he has to get that shot blown up to a 16×20 and display it at the bridal show on October 2nd. And when we’re done with it, I’ll take it home! It has to be one of my favourite bdf wedding images EVER! And because I’m running out of time, I’ll only give you one more image even though I have about 1000 more here on my PC!
Holly and Bryce, thank you so much for allowing the bdf crew to capture the memories of your special day. We wish you all the happiness in the world. We look forward to seeing you all again soon when we present you with your final wedding images. We hope you like your sneak peek!

Great pictures for my nephew’s wedding, more imaginative that usual wedding pictures. I found Quinn to be a challenge for pictures, you caught him on his best behavour. Really liked the red truck fotos and the Abbey road re-inactment.
Wow, wow, wow!! Absolutely wonderful shots! I am having a hard time picking a favourite this week, so I will have to mention a few – the guys in front of the red barn, the crosswalk shot, Beaver’s shot of the happy couple in front of the covered bridge and the shot of Holly leaning on the front of the red truck – so fierce!! That one might be my favourite of the day. What a beautiful looking wedding and a very happy and beautiful bride and handsome groom. Looks like a perfect wedding day and bdf captured some fantastic shots for the happy couple. Hope they love them as much as I do!!
Every week you guys are just trying to outdo yourselves!!! I am very jealous of that shot crossing the road-LOVE IT!! Amid the chaos of life happening around them, there is this beautiful moment happening in the world-great! Also really liking the red theme (truck, barn, stairs in the church, in the trees with their silhouette)-the contrast is so eye catching.
